  • Descendant Tree of Simon Cademy (ca. 1789-1870)

  • Until 2010 we had been unable to trace our Cademys any further than Simon born around 1789. But carol came to our aid by looking at odd variants of the surname in nearby parishes and keeping an eye on favoured given names, tracing the line back to a John Caddiman with 5 of his children baptised in Wighton between 1725 and 1737. Sadly the parish is silent about his wife's name and we have been unable to find his marriage,

Simon Cademy and Mary Jeckell, Holt, Norfolk

The main occupation of the family was marsh shepherd so it was somewhat of a surprise that Simon was a tailor, born around 1789 in Hindringham. He married Mary Jeckell (believed to be the daughter of Thomas & Mary) in 1813 in Holt. Their son William, a carpenter, married Maria Chilvers in 1857 Burnham Westgate. Courtesy of Richard Chilvers' hard work, her line goes back a further 8 generations to Samuel Chelver and Alice Farnor who married on 17 Jan 1590/1 in Swaffham.

Ann Wagg (nee Cadamy, 1864-1941 )

William & Maria had 7 children including Ann Cadamy (Sally's great grandmother, known as Nancy) who married Henry Wagg in 1883 in Snettisham.
